[dropcap]A[/dropcap]yacht with extraordinary proportions, WIDER 150′ reminds one of the elegant vessels of the early 20th century.
The lines, however, are minimalist, drawn by Fulvio De Simoni who has designed taut, contemporary surfaces.
Just returned from the Miami Boat Show and after the announcement of [highlight color=”orange”]the new WIDER 125′[/highlight], which was one certainly one of the most exciting events, our attention returns to the shipyard’s headquarters to follow the construction of this one-of-a-kind megayacht, Wider 150′, where the aesthetic balance represents the harmony of the entire project.
From the interior layout to the innovative propulsion system, everything has been studied to guarantee maximum integration between ship and sea, from the points of view of environmental impact and life on board. Exquisitely taut, essential lines for a yacht with an elegant, distinctive design: Fulvio De Simoni is confirmed as an artist who makes the classical contemporary.
Update
Last month Wider reported on the installation of the WIDER 150′s four variable speed generators. These are located in the bow, and produce power for both propulsion and the hotel of the superyacht. Now they report the Veth electric pods have arrived in the shipyard and will soon be installed. These pods will deliver 100% thrust with 360º manoeuvrability, but also result in a remarkably shallow draft of less than 2m. The pods work in conjunction with the diesel electric installation, drawing power from the generators or from the sizeable but lightweight battery banks.

The hull and superstructure primer is 90% finished and we are fitting the retractable terrace to the owners’ suite. So, now is a great time to visit the shipyard and explore the WIDER 150’.”

The innovative soul of the Wider 150′ project is indicated in the concept of energy saving which finds expression in the use of a diesel/electric propulsion system combined with the aluminium hulls.

Ever changing wishes
Astern is Wider 32′, an extension of the main unit to all effects and purposes rather than a simple tender. She was designed specially in order to guarantee the owner maximum comfort even during independent excursions from the mother ship.
The floating launching system makes entry/exit manoeuvres for the floating tender both agile and simplified. The space made after Wider 32′ has been launched magically turns into a natural seawater swimming-pool surrounded by an out and out Wider beach, created from the opening of the two side wings and extension of the swim platform. The design of the bow, on the other hand, provides for a storage area for the water toys.
