Codecasa M/Y MY Legacy, inspired by the elegance of bygone eras

Codecasa yachts and projects are always a surprise: the charm of every codecasa lies in their diversity from each other, from classic projects to more contemporary design, up to the pioneering intuitions of the jet line.

Delivered in July 2021, M/Y My Legacy is finally ready to unveil her superb interiors. This boat is part of the Codecasa fleet that again this summer will turn the head of many, together with the latest construction vessel whose sale was announced last March, the Codecasa 58 – Hull C127. On the other hand, in store for next summer 2024 there are two new particular yachts: the new 33m Codecasa Classic Yacht 110′ – Hull F80 – entirely in aluminium, currently under construction at the Codecasa shipyards in Navicelli (Pisa), and the Codecasa 43 – Hull C124, whose construction started on speculation and whose sale was announced last January. C124 is a custom displacement yacht of 43 meters, with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure designed by the internal technical staff of the Codecasa Shipyards. Being a speculative project, at the time of signing the contract, the owner was able to benefit from a construction phase that had already been completed, so as not to have to wait too long for delivery.

In terms of new projects, born from the intuition and the hand of Fulvio Codecasa, the innovative CODECASA JET 2020 (70m) has recently been reviewed and thanks to the close collaboration with architect Tommaso Spadolini led to the birth of a smaller version, the CODECASA JET 50.

M/Y MY LEGACY – Developed over 4 decks the full displacement 56-metre Codecasa M/Y My Legacy is a totally custom-made yacht with steel hull and aluminium superstructure, featuring generous windows, which let the natural light into the interiors and make the exteriors, characterized by clean and essential profile, in line with the yard style, particularly elegant and eye-catching.

The yacht boasts large spaces outside and inside, ensuring the best comfort and privacy to owners and guests, when cruising and at anchor. For moment of extreme relax, the sundeck is the place where to spend some time, reading, sunbathing or enjoying the Jacuzzi pool.

M/Y My Legacy features high quality and technical standards and is equipped with 2 Caterpillar 3512E engines: she is able to reach a maximum speed of 17 knots at the light displacement condition.

The Codecasa technical team developed the exterior design, working together in cooperation with Arch. Tommaso Spadolini, who was responsible for the sumptuous interior design. As the architect explains, the yacht’s interiors are “inspired by the luxuriousness of the past. The yacht’s owner wanted a palette of rich reds, blues and gold to contrast with the contemporary exterior lines of his new yacht”.

It took hundreds of hours of research to source the woods, marbles and particularly the brocade that make up the lavish interior of this yacht. And Spadolini’s genius in this project has been twofold. First, he has made masterful use of artisanal contacts built up over a long career in yacht design mixed with those provided by the shipyard. Almost every element of the interior required the sort of craftsmanship that is becoming rarer and rarer.

“The owner loves Italian craftsmanship and wanted a handmade interior that reflected a cultural love of sumptuosness and opulence. We have made this clear from the moment you step inside the main saloon, where the armchairs are upholstered in ruby red and gold brocade, with lots of gilding. Meanwhile cabinetry panels are in extremely high gloss mahogany with a briarwood centre whose patterns resemble palm trees. The effect is breathtaking”, comments the architect.

The owner’s apartment, comprising two cabins and a private lounge positioned forward on the maindeck, continues this red and gold theme.

Bridge deck

Exceptionally, for a yacht of this calibre, the VIP cabin on the deck below is fitted out to an identical standard as the owner’s accommodation. Stretching the full 10m beam of the boat, this cabin takes blue and gold as its chief protagonists, while the remaining two guest cabins are in beige and gold.

Much of the showcase fabric was sourced from Loris Zanca, matching the palette of the interiors.

“The client was absolutely clear that he wanted floors to be either carpet or marble”, said Spadolini. “After the incredibly elaborate process of developing the pattern and tones of the cabinetry, a parquet floor, no matter how perfect, could hardly reach the same standard”.

Some of Italy’s most accomplished artisans have been involved in this project. Ginori 1735 has provided equisite handmade porcelain decor, while Badari Firenze created a range of classical lighting especially for My Legacy. Loose furniture came from DL Décor and Zanaboni, with the skilled woodwork by Stilnavi.

In the end, Spadolini is left with a feeling of pride when he looks back on the project. “We met all the requirements of the client, of course, but also produced an incredible example of craftsmanship. The styling is opulent, yes, but in this opulence is a real sense of consistency. We have not used many colours, and the cabinetry is the same throughout the boat, with an identical pattern around the edge that we chose after 15 or 16 separate trials. This interior may be classic, but displays a passion for the sea and for yachting. It is linked to the luxury of yacht interiors of the past, and I’m old enough to remember some of those!”

The construction process of this yacht, which took three years, was followed by the personnel of the English company TWWYM on behalf of the owner. The launch took place in June 2021 with a private ceremony at the Viareggio yard.

The shipyard underlined the particular commitment and hard work of the entire Codecasa team and of all contractors involved. On the day of the launch, the shipyard commented as follows: “In-depth studies, highest attention to detail, high quality and great coordination work are summed up in this boat which today is experiencing a moment so full of energy and enthusiasm”. Fulvio Codecasa added: “M/Y My Legacy is a totally custom-made full displacement yacht of 56 meters of length over all with a traditional Codecasa yacht exterior line, and she reflects the specific requests and tastes of her owner, who specifically requested us above all to have generous volumes and privacy in his yacht. We had a great relationship of collaboration with the owner that has turned into trust and mutual esteem. We understood his needs and we were able to realize the yacht of his dreams. We are very proud of this yacht!”.
