BALTIC 116 DORYAN. A no compromise blue water cruiser with speed & performance

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he stunning red Baltic 116 Doryan is another outstanding success in the long co-operation between Baltic Yachts, Nauta Design and judel/vrolijk & co. Doryan offers it all – speed and performance with comfort and style. She will be enjoyed during lazy days in secluded anchorages or whilst undertaking long distance ocean passages.

Having received a design brief for a timeless and elegant yacht offering long-term living comfort and space for joyful and private down time, the judel /vrolijk design team produced exciting features and unique lines. In combination with the modern but classic exterior styling from Nauta Yachts the partnership successfully produced an exciting and individual exterior. Her wraparound deckhouse windows with integrated carbon fibre bimini look sleek while offering shelter from the elements; this unique feature made for a considerable design and engineering challenge for the team but was integral to the Owner’s vision of providing a sheltered position for friends and family to enjoy their cruising.

Doryan’s hull structure is a characteristic Baltic Yachts high-tech composite solution, tailor-made to the customer’s wishes. The vacuum-infused sandwich carbon laminate is strengthened by carbon unidirectionals where additional stiffness is required, producing a light displacement hull with extreme strength and high impact resistance. Conservative skin thicknesses and a stiff hull mean she meets the highest safety standards whilst maintaining her impressive performance.

Doryan’s interior is designed and organised for a comfortable, practical and user friendly time on board. Her elegant cabins and living spaces create a warm and relaxed atmosphere whilst the furniture has been kept very light weight. The interior layout sees a spacious owner’s cabin with generous en-suite bathroom forward, followed by two guest cabins. Further aft is found the raised deck salon with a large dining table to port with seating for 8 to 10 and a comfortable settee area to starboard. Heading aft from the saloon one finds two further generous guest cabins with three crew cabins, a crew mess, galley and navigation area. Teak surfaces combine with light coloured panels and maple striped floorboards to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior styling, final layout and detailed solutions were designed and co-ordinated by the experienced Nauta Design team.

Considerable volume was allocated to stowage which when combined with impressive tank capacity provide Doryan with the ability to offer independent long term unassisted cruising and long ocean passage making. Living comfort and the provision of a suitably relaxing environment have been enhanced by a strong emphasis on noise and vibration reduction. In addition this yacht features a large stern garage for toy stowage, a fold out anchor system for cleaner hull lines and a triple cockpit layout with separate areas for living, sunbathing and steering/operating the yacht.

Doryan is designed for both short-handed cruising as well as occasional racing. All sail controls can be managed via dedicated remote controls and push buttons in the aft sailing cockpit. With her hydraulic winches and her practical deck layout she can be sailed and handled by a small crew. Two fixed forestays allow for an easy to control blade and a staysail both on hydraulic furlers, with the main sail controlled by an in boom furling system. Stability is provided by the lifting keel system that provides a draught of 5.5 meters when lowered for performance sailing and 3.5m up for accessing the most idyllic shallow anchorages.

All in all Baltic 116 Doryan is a great combination of high performance and blue water cruising qualities and Baltic Yachts is proud to announce that she will make her world premiere having a premium location next to the new Yacht Club at the Monaco Yacht Show 2015.
