ZUCCON INTERNATIONAL PROJECT FOR SANLORENZO

[dropcap]Z[/dropcap]uccon International Project announced officially the new partnership with Sanlorenzo Yacht, one of the world’s leading shipyard. The Elite Days in May, the traditional event hosted by the shipyard in La Spezia, provided the backdrop for the presentation of Bernardo and Martina Zuccon’s first new designs for the SL 102 and SX 72.

SL102

Working with Sanlorenzo doesn’t just mean partnering with one of the world’s most prestigious yacht brands, but most importantly engaging with all the content on which this company has built 60 years of history. It is a history written primarily by the people who, over the years, have built, consolidated and promoted the value of this brand through remarkable teamwork, under the leadership of Massimo Perotti, who has successfully transferred all his great passion for yacht building to the team.

And this passion has, of course, been transferred right from the outset to the design studio, enabling it to better understand and interpret the past, the present and the vision of this Company.

Sanlorenzo has always been a firm believer in the concept of brand identity, but with the aim of exploring new pathways, striving to innovate and stay competitive in an increasingly heterogeneous and demanding marketplace. Likewise, the design studio has always based its work on each brand’s history, analysing their characteristic traditions, content and stories, at the same time as being driven to embark on unexplored design pathways with a view to writing new stories.

This affinity is one of the main factors encouraging the studio to develop and consolidate this important partnership. The work of Martina and Bernardo Zuccon won’t be limited to the design of fiberglass yachts with planing hulls, but extend to all the shipyard’s product lines, including not only fiberglass but also aluminium and steel units, with lengths ranging from 40 to 60 meters.

The first two projects designed by Zuccon International Project, the SL 102 and the SX 72, were presented in the setting of the Elite Days, the storied event organized by Sanlorenzo in La Spezia. The design of the SL 102 is highly significant, not only because it is the first on which the studio has officially worked, but also because it represents the attempt to reinterpret and renew the shipyard’s most storied range: motor yachts with planing hulls.

Bernardo Zuccon commented:

“I am very happy with the direction design work has taken so far, because I have always said that it is practically a moral duty to investigate new types of living spaces to offer the market, not so much in terms of style, but of the possibility in certain cases of altering the functional equilibrium, to allow the people who will experience the boat to find new potential scenarios”.

And the result of this research is the new SL 102, a boat that will have an innovative asymmetrical layout, where the spaces and flows of life on board will be re-defined from a different perspective. There will be various different points of view, functional settings and opportunities to perceive the sea from new and dynamic perspectives, which change constantly as you move around on board. Asymmetry is movement, an apparent imbalance that can at the same time produce order.

The SX 72, on the other hand, represents the opportunity to give continuity to a fascinating research path that the shipyard has embarked on, once again in search of a product that tells a new story about life on board and style.

Here too, typological research takes on a key design development role, where spaces and settings are designed to enhance to the full the prime reason for which these boats are bought, that is to experience the clearest expression of the sea. In this project, the barriers “come down” and the boat opens up to welcome the sea in a simple and direct interpretation, where everything is in contact with the marine environment.

The story of the SX is an entirely new and fascinating one, not only for the shipyard, but also for yacht building in a broader sense: the goal of work is to ensure that the must-haves demanded by today’s market are featured on yachts which didn’t originally have the right size characteristics to be able to offer them. It is a product for people who really do love the sea.
